Welcome to ARC Marine

Our mission is to repair the world’s damaged marine ecosystems on an unprecedented scale. We’re doing this by incorporating eco-friendly artificial reefs across the globe where they not only enhance biodiversity, but they serve as subsea protection, coastal defences, moorings, marine foundations and more. By solving traditional marine problems with our plastic-free, low-carbon technologies, we allow a variety of industries to leave a lasting positive impact on the marine environment.

ARC Technology

The ARC Process

Eco Centric Design

No matter your marine needs, we’ll build a design that’s created for you and informed by marine ecosystems and biodiversity

Biological Monitoring

Our in-house team of scientists will assess the current state of the ecosystem surrounding your project via eDNA, baited video, ROV and diver surveys

Manufacturing & Deployment

ARC’s team of technicians and engineers provide a high-quality, low-impact manufacturing process, whilst our efficient lifting operations are industry standard

Impact Reporting

Our long-term scientific monitoring will help you assess the impact of your construction on the surrounding marine ecosystems, allowing you to see and share the benefits

1,000+ reef cubes deployed globally

Over 1,000 reef cubes have been deployed across the globe, bringing new life to our seas and with published scientific research backing their success.

As the climate crisis continues, there’s never been a more important time ensure that green energy industries like offshore wind, have access to biodiversity creating protection for subsea structures – helping to protect life both above and below the water.

Engineers

Our products are tried and tested in the marine environment, having been deployed subsea and intertidally across several marine industries.

The quality of each batch of our products are verified independently and our dedicated engineering team can work with you to verify the ability of our products to meet any project functional or performance standards and to demonstrate the benefits of our products as a differentiated ecologically beneficial solution.

Environmentalists

Our products are plastic free, have 91% reduced emissions compared against OPC, and have been certified to Dutch leachate standards proving our technology leaches no toxic material into the marine environment.

ARC technology can help to combat coastal squeeze and improve ecosystem health through native species biodiversity increase.

We can assist in their deployment by adding kelp paste and/or live oysters to kick-start habitat recovery with bio-secure native species to accelerate the rewilding process.

Business Owners

Our technology supports SDG-14 life below water, marine biodiversity net gain and carbon net zero ambitions.

The low carbon footprint, the use of non toxic materials, with zero plastics in our mix design, in conjunction with our habitat enhancing features means that our products are gamechanging.

ARC technology has the potential to help reduce licensing lead time, mitigate habitat damage that would otherwise need to be offset through expensive mitigation schemes and can even be subject to reduced decommissioning liability as their is a strong case to leave units in-situ to allow new ecosystems created to thrive indefinitely.

Government

As the world pushes toward a greener future we're seeing ambitious targets and guidelines announced, like the EU goal to be climate-neutral by 2050 and the UK's Biodiversity Net Gain approach from the 2021 Environment Act.

ARC Marine is here to help reach these targets as well as the ones that are key to your department or region. Our carbon-neutral products are totally plastic free and constructed from 98% recycled material, meaning they provide solutions for your coastal defence, offshore energy and aquaculture requirements, whilst boosting biodiversity in our oceans.

Consultation & Survey

From nature inclusion plans, to site surveys, design engineering reports and more, we’ve got the services to help you progress your project with biodiversity in mind. Our expertise lies within the offshore energy, coastal defence and aquaculture industries, and we’re ready to help you every step of the way, no matter the size of your development.

Testimonials

“Kier have been very satisfied and pleased with ARC Marine throughout the preconstruction and construction stages of the Newlyn Tidal R&D project. ARC Marine have fabricated and delivered exceptional Intertidal reef cube® ECO armour units for the project where all parties, including Kier, the Environment Agency and Atkins, have been very impressed with the quality of finish of the units. Overall a very exceptional service from ARC Marine and would highly recommend.”

Jack Walker, Site Agent / Chartered Engineer, Kier Infrastructure – Regional Civil Engineering

“reef cubes® is a unique product that could reach a massive global market. Marine-i has been proud to help ARC Marine develop and test their amazing new approach to marine conservation and in particular, its application to marine renewable energy. Their pioneering products have the potential to improve the health of our oceans for generations to come.”

Alex Whatley, University of Plymouth

"ARC Marine are providing 25% of the reef blocks for the Newlyn project. Their blocks offer multi-functional benefits, such as biodiversity enhancing design and low-carbon fabrication. The development of viable alternatives to carbon intensive and non-sustainable solutions such as reinforced concrete, or quarried rock, is hugely important in order to meet the EA’s organisational targets to achieve net zero by 2030. More broadly, decarbonisation of the coastal and subsea infrastructure industry will also provide an important contribution to wider UK pledges on climate change."

Justin Ridgewell, Coastal Advisor for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, Environment Agency

“The idea of a carbon-neutral reef cube® that can be used to help rehabilitate reef ecosystems is exciting – we really need to do everything we can to give coral reefs a break”

Dr Sylvia Earle, National Geographic Explorer upon congratulating ARC Marine as an Ocean Impact Finalist, 2020.
